Wayne Te Brake
Wayne’s love for wild places was cemented at an early age, and he was certain that whatever he ended up doing in the bush one day, it had to involve camping in Wilderness areas. Now with eighteen years worth of experience in the Nature Conservation and Field Guiding industry, Wayne is an established and well-respected Professional Wilderness Trails Guide, mentor, and assessor.
Along with his degree (BTech: Nature Conservation), he has obtained the FGASA Professional SKS Dangerous Game, SKS Birding, as well as the Tracker Level 3 qualification, including Track&Sign Specialist (CyberTracker). He also acts as National assessor for CATHSSETA & FGASA.
Wayne has guided throughout Southern Africa and has spent more than eight years conducting Field Guide (Trails Guide) Training courses in South Africa. Over the last number of years, much of his time has also been spent leading Backpack Trails in the Kruger National Park.
After co-founding Lowveld Trails Co. five years ago, Wayne’s focus has shifted to guiding ‘Primitive Trails’, and mentoring and training young Trails Guides in the Private Nature Reserves bordering the Kruger National Park. He has accumulated >11 000 walking (trails guiding) hours to date. With the advent of Africa Trails Co. Wayne wishes to continue his exploration of Wilderness areas throughout Africa, and share with other trailists the reconnection to nature, and one’s self, that Primitive Trails provide.
Wayne is a popular Trails Guide and Mentor with a deep Wilderness connection. Time spent in the bush with Wayne is always rewarding.
